My client is a well-established player in the Banking sector looking to hire a Deputy Head of Legal and Compliance to join their expanding team.

Your new role

As a deputy head of compliance, you will lead the regulatory compliance and legal functions. As a key member of the team, you'll enhance and implement effective compliance risk strategies, policies, and frameworks to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and internal policies. Your responsibilities will include monitoring compliance, overseeing reviews and investigations, and implementing robust controls and risk management activities.

Additionally, as Legal Counsel, you'll provide expert in-house legal advisory services and collaborate with external counsels as needed. You'll also ensure our employment practices align with the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) requirements, complementing the Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) regulations. Furthermore, you'll facilitate legal transactions and litigation, conduct research and analysis, and produce informed legal opinions and documents. You'll also investigate legal matters, create employee policies, and manage legal risks to safeguard our organization's interests.

What you'll need to succeed

Candidate being a 'qualified person' as defined in the Legal Profession Act read together with the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules; and Other admission requirements set out in Sections 12 and 13 of the Legal Profession Act read together with the Legal Profession (Admission) Rules 2011 will have advantages

Candidate is mature with good manners

Candidate is required to be familiar with the compliance requirement of MAS, those with at least 10 years of working experience in Singapore Financial Industry (with not more than 8 FIs) will have advantage
